7 Days Erg Chegaga and Lake Iriki Long Trek

7 Days 6 Nights

Overview

A long caravan route that goes beyond Erg Chegaga to the dunes of Bougarn and the dry bed of Lake Iriki, a former inland lake now covered in fossil ground and acacia.

Six nights are spent under canvas and the daily stages run to sixteen or twenty kilometres, which makes this the most demanding of the desert treks and the one that reaches the emptiest ground.

Trip Highlights

  • Six nights of mobile camping in the western Sahara
  • The full Erg Chegaga dune field, end to end
  • The Bougarn dunes and the acacia flats of Oued Naam
  • The dry bed of Lake Iriki and its fossil ground
