Overview
Ten days is the length at which the imperial cities and the Sahara can be combined without either being rushed. The route runs Casablanca, Rabat, Fes, the Middle Atlas, Merzouga and the dunes, the Todra and Dades gorges, Ait Ben Haddou and Marrakech, with the Atlantic town of Essaouira at the end.
There are guided days in Fes and Marrakech, a night in a desert camp at Erg Chebbi, and no day with more than about six hours of driving.
