4 Days Fes to Marrakech via Merzouga

4 Days 3 Nights

Overview

A one-way crossing of Morocco from north to south, ending in Marrakech rather than doubling back. The route leaves Fes through the cedar forests of the Middle Atlas, follows the Ziz Valley to the dunes of Erg Chebbi, then turns west along the Todra and Dades gorges towards Ouarzazate.

It suits travellers who fly into one city and out of the other, and it gives a full day around Merzouga rather than a single evening.

Trip Highlights

  • Cedar forest of Azrou and its Barbary macaques
  • The Ziz Valley and its long stretch of date palms
  • A full day around Merzouga: Khamlia, Rissani and the seasonal lake
  • Camel ride and overnight camp in the Erg Chebbi dunes
  • Todra Gorge, the Dades Valley and Ait Ben Haddou on the way west
