Marrakech Medina Guided Walking Tour

4 Hours

Overview

Half a day on foot inside the walls of Marrakech with an official city guide, which is how the medina is best understood: it has no vehicle access in most of its lanes and no logical street plan.

The walk covers the monuments south of the Jemaa el Fna and the working souks north of it, ending where the square fills up in the late afternoon.

Trip Highlights

  • The Koutoubia minaret, the model for later Almohad towers
  • The Bahia Palace and its painted cedar ceilings
  • The Saadian Tombs, sealed for centuries and reopened in 1917
  • The craft souks: dyers, metalworkers, leather and carpets
  • The Jemaa el Fna as it fills in the late afternoon
